We are happy to let you know that our office is now able to provide Virtual Visits for medical and behavioral health when appropriate.  We remain available in our office for visits that require a physical exam (for example ear checks) - see further information below.  We ask that you please bear with us as we all get used to this new technology.

MyChart patient portal account is required. If your child does not have a MyChart account, please contact our office. If you do not have a MyChart account, we can send you an activation email when you call to schedule the appointment. The free Zoom app is also required to be installed on your device, but it is not necessary for you to be registered for an account with Zoom.

Virtual visits are best completed on a cell phone or tablet, but a personal computer with webcam may also be used.

While we have been able to complete many visits without any issues, occasionally we do run into a technical challenge. Please make sure to have BOTH the MyChart App and the Zoom App installed on your phone or tablet prior to your visit. The following guides can offer help:

If you run into any issues at the time of your scheduled visit, please contact our office for assistance. If needed the visit can be completed telephonically.

Please note:  In response to the current crisis, most insurance companies have waived co-pays for Telehealth visits. This is a wonderful opportunity to check in with your child’s provider to discuss issues of concern to you.

At Pediatric Associates of Hampden County your child’s health and well-being are our top priority. We continue to work diligently to stay up to date with the latest recommendations regarding COVID-19, from the CDC, the Massachusetts Department of Health, and our colleges at Boston Children’s Hospital.

To reduce unnecessary viral exposures of our patients, their families, and our staff, we have implemented the following temporary policies:

  • All walk-in times are now cancelled. We will only be taking appointments by phone and we will ask you questions about COVID-19 exposure prior to your appointment.
  • Our West Springfield office will be scheduling all well visit appointments or non-sick appointments during the morning hours.  As of 3/24 all patients with COVID-19 compatible symptoms who need to come in will be seen during the afternoon hours in the West Springfield office. The Westfield office will see well child visits and sick patients with no COVID-19 compatible symptoms in the morning and the afternoon. While we understand that this may inconvenience some families, we feel it is imperative to do everything we can to limit the contact of well and sick patients at this time. If your child has a well visit appointment but he or she is sick, we ask that you call the office to discuss rescheduling the appointment. If your child has an upcoming well visit scheduled for an afternoon in our West Springfield office, a staff member will be reaching out to you to help reschedule.
  • When arriving for your appointment, we request only 1 person accompany the patient to the office to limit exposures within the office.
  • We have been and will continue to thoroughly clean our patient and waiting rooms. Books and magazines have been removed to reduce viral transmission. Stickers have been taken out of the hallway. The staff will now distribute stickers at the end of a visit.
  • If you are concerned that your child may be exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, please call the office and you will be able to discuss your concerns with one of our staff to determine the best plan of action.
  • We are able to provide Virtual Visits for medical and behavioral health when appropriate.  A MyChart patient portal account is required. If your child does not have a MyChart account, please contact our office.
  • It has become necessary to temporarily stop our evening and Sunday hours. As always a provider is available on call.

Please keep in mind that this is a very mild disease for the vast majority of healthy people who contract the illness, and that children under the age of 10 are largely not affected by anything more than minor cold symptoms.

We want to thank all of our families for your patience and understanding and know that we will continue to keep you up to date on any changes or new developments that happen.

MHQP Patient Experience Award 2018

Pediatric Associates of Hampden County Wins

MHQP Patient Experience Award

Is among the top pediatric primary care practices in the state recognized for best-in-class patient experience, based on results of annual statewide survey conducted by Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP)

Westfield, MA – November 27, 2018 – Pediatric Associates of Hampden County, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has received an award from Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP) for being one of the top practices in Massachusetts for patient experience in primary care.

The “MHQP Patient Experience Awards” is a new awards program introduced this year by MHQP, a non-profit measurement and reporting organization that brings together providers, health plans, and patients to improve the quality of patient care experiences in Massachusetts. MHQP conducts the only statewide survey of patient experience in primary care in Massachusetts, with feedback from over 65,000 commercially-insured patients across the state.

Awards were given to the practices that ranked highest in each of eleven performance categories, as well as an overall performance category determined by the practices with the most best-in-class results across multiple categories.

Pediatric Associates of Hampden County received recognition for Distinction in Assessment of Child Development.

“The staff and providers of Pediatric Associates of Hampden County have worked hard over the years to build our practice into a medical home,” said Robert Peskin, MD, managing partner of Pediatric Associates of Hampden County. “We are thrilled to be recognized by our patients and be a recipient of a MHQP Patient Experience Award for being one of the top pediatric practices in the state for the assessment of child development. We continuously work to improve our quality and the experience for our patients and their families.”

“Primary care is the heart of healthcare in Massachusetts,” said Barbra Rabson, MHQP’s President and CEO. “The practices recognized with these awards have distinguished themselves where it matters most – in the experiences of their own patients. We are thrilled to congratulate each of them for their commitment to excellence and best-in-class patient experiences.”

Immunization Registry Information

We are pleased to inform you that our office is now participating in the Massachusetts Immunization Information System (MIIS).  The MIIS is the new statewide, electronic record-keeping system (or registry) that keeps track of your immunizations (shots).  This new system will help us keep complete and accurate records of the shots your children get from any doctor or healthcare provider in Massachusetts.  It was developed by the Immunization Program at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.  We will begin to use the MIIS on November 23rd, 2015.

 The MIIS will allow us to:

  • keep all of your important immunization information together in one place for you and all of your healthcare providers;
  • know which shots your children are due for and when;
  • easily send reminders to you about your children’s upcoming immunizations to help you in scheduling your next visit; and
  • quickly print out the forms your children need for school and camp to save you time each fall and summer.

Immunization registries like the MIIS help healthcare providers make sure that everyone is up-to-date on their immunizations to keep us all healthy and prevent the spread of harmful disease.  The system has been created according to state law, which requires that healthcare providers who give immunizations report them to the MIIS.  All information in the MIIS is kept confidential.  You may choose to limit the providers who may see your child’s shot records in the MIIS.  However, if you do choose to limit who can view your child’s shot history, we may be unable to give you a complete and accurate record of your child’s shots.  This means you must continue to keep track of this information on your own.

You may also visit the MIIS website at, or contact the Massachusetts Immunization Program directly at 617-983-6800 or 888-658-2850.

We now have a PAHC Facebook page to keep you up-to-date on current news and information.  So, don't forget to like us!

Launch of our New Website and Patient Portal!

We launched our new website  This gives our patients useful information regarding our practice, such as office hours, locations, policies, patient medical information and links, and patient documents.  There is a section giving a short biography of our providers that gives families the opportunity to get to know us better.  Expecting parents can also learn about our practice and request a newborn visit through our website if they wish to meet one of our pediatricians.  Now we will be able to let our patients know up-to-date medical news and changes that could affect their children's health care. Our website allows us to communicate information to our patient's families regarding issues such as when we receive our annual flu vaccine in our office and our new medical home initiative.  Our recently released patient portal now allows our families to access a summary of their personal health record to be able to work more closely with their medical providers.  The patient portal gives the ability to view immunization records, medications, allergies, problem list and recent lab work performed.  So if families are on vacation and need access to their medical information emergently it is only a few keystrokes away!  Once families are given their user-name and password at our office they can access their patient portal through our website and partner with our medical professionals to receive the highest quality of pediatric care.  Pediatric Associates of Hampden County has always been a leader in Western Massachusetts pediatric medical care and we are proud to be able to continue this tradition through our innovative new website and patient portal.
